Data Collection Methods

We track how people use energysensesys.com so we can make your experience better. Here's what you need to know about that.

Current Status: Checking preferences...

Clicking the button above removes tracking cookies from your browser and tells us not to collect analytics data. Essential cookies that keep the site working can't be disabled, but they don't track you.

What We're Tracking

When you visit our site, we collect information about how you interact with it. This helps us understand what's working and what isn't. We use small text files called cookies along with other tracking methods to gather this data.

Most of this tracking happens automatically when you load pages. Some of it requires cookies, some uses other browser features. We try to be upfront about all of it.

Essential Functions (Can't Be Disabled)

These are the basics that make the site work. Without them, you couldn't log in, submit forms, or navigate properly. They don't track your behavior across the web or collect marketing data.

  • Session management - Keeps you logged in as you move between pages
  • Security tokens - Protects forms from automated spam and attacks
  • Load balancing - Directs your requests to the right server
  • Preference storage - Remembers settings like language selection
  • Form data - Temporarily holds information you're submitting

Types of Tracking We Use

Different tracking methods serve different purposes. Some help us fix bugs, others show us which features people actually use. Here's what each type does.

Analytics Tracking

We watch how people move through the site. Which pages get viewed most? Where do people drop off? This data shapes our development priorities.

  • Page visit counts and duration
  • Click patterns and navigation paths
  • Device and browser information
  • Geographic location (city level)

Performance Monitoring

We track load times, error rates, and system performance. When something breaks or slows down, this data helps us fix it quickly.

  • Page load speed measurements
  • Error messages and crash reports
  • API response times
  • Resource usage patterns

User Experience Data

We record how people interact with specific features. Do they understand the interface? Are they getting stuck somewhere? This tells us what needs improvement.

  • Feature usage frequency
  • Form completion rates
  • Search queries and results
  • Button and link interactions

Conversion Tracking

We measure whether people complete actions we care about, like signing up for updates or contacting us. This helps us understand if our content resonates.

  • Contact form submissions
  • Newsletter signups
  • Download completions
  • Documentation access

How Long We Keep This Data

Analytics data gets aggregated after 26 months and individual session details are deleted. Performance logs stay around for 90 days. Essential cookies expire when you close your browser or after 24 hours, whichever comes first. If you decline tracking, we store that preference for 12 months so we don't keep asking.

Third-Party Services We Use

Some tracking happens through external services. We use analytics platforms and monitoring tools that may set their own cookies. When you decline tracking, we tell these services not to collect data about you.

Our hosting provider collects basic server logs for security purposes. This includes IP addresses, request timestamps, and accessed URLs. These logs help us prevent attacks and investigate technical issues. They're kept for 30 days.

Managing Your Browser Settings

Besides using our decline button above, you can control cookies directly in your browser. Each browser handles this differently. Here's where to find those settings.

Chrome

Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data

Firefox

Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Safari

Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data

Edge

Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

What Happens When You Decline

When you click the decline button, we delete all non-essential cookies from your browser and stop collecting analytics data about your visits. The site still works normally, you just won't be counted in our usage statistics.

We store your preference in local storage so we remember your choice for future visits. Essential cookies for site functionality remain active because they're necessary for the site to work properly.

Updates to These Practices

We update this information when we change how we collect data. If we add new tracking methods or start using different services, we'll update this page and note the changes below.

Major changes that affect your privacy will be announced through email to registered users and a notice on the homepage. Minor clarifications or additions happen without notification.
